The function of the Obligations Committee is to vet all renewal applications for B’nai Torah membership.
There are those members who, for one reason or another, have not submitted the full membership fee. These applications are assessed individually to see if there is an appropriate reason for a reduction in membership fee. The member may be contacted by the committee to discuss the appropriate level of payment.. The deliberations of the committee and any discussions with the individual are confidential.
The committee would like to stress to the B’nai Torah membership that running the shul is an expensive proposition, and that every member must do his/her utmost to help B’nai Torah maintain its level of service to the membership and to the community.
